According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), smoking rates been declining for the past several decades. In 2005, 20.9 percent of adults in the U.S. smoked while in 2016, that percentage dipped to 15.5. Vaping is less harmful than smoking.

Although “smoking among U.S. adults has been reduced by more than half since 1964,” it remains the leading cause of preventable disease and death in the country. Therefore, even if both smoke and vapor are similar in appearance and feel comparable when taking a puff, vaping is much less harmful than smoking, prompting even health organizations like the American Cancer Society (ACS) to adopt policies that encourages clinicians to support attempts to quit combustibles by switching exclusively to e-cigarettes.

You can vape nicotine-free.

Smokers will attest that quitting smoking isn’t only about quitting nicotine, although, for many, the physical withdrawal symptoms are incredibly challenging to overcome. If, however, you are more attached to the psychological and habitual aspects of smoking, meaning that you miss the act of smoking more than the nicotine itself, you have the option to vape without any of the substance.

Since e-cigarettes look and feel like regular cigarettes, in the sense that you can hold one between your fingers, place it on your lips, take a satisfying inhale and exhale a vaporous substance, you can continue to relish in the daily rituals that you find comforting.
