Decoding Vaping Terminology for Beginners

Are you considering making the switch from combustible cigarettes to e-cigarettes, but all the vaping terminology has you confused? Fear not, for we have made it our mission to decode vaping jargon! Of course, it would take us a lot more than just one blog post to cover the extensive terms used by vapers, especially since the vaping language is still evolving. So, let’s start with the basics: Decoding Vaping Terminology for Beginners.

1) Electronic cigarette or E-cig: An electronic device that heats a liquid containing flavors and/or nicotine to generate a vapor, which is then inhaled by the user. While there are different types of e-cigarettes, the main components of an e-cig are the mouthpiece, the tank, the atomizer, and the battery.

2) Vaper: A vaper is someone who uses electronic cigarettes. The term is inclusive of people who prefer nicotine-free options.

3) Vapor or aerosol: The substance produced by the electronic cigarette and inhaled by the vaper. Depending on the liquid used, it may or may not contain nicotine.

4) E-juice, e-liquid, juice, or vapor juice: Containing propylene glycol (PG), vegetable glycerine (VG), flavoring, and/or nicotine, it is the solution that is heated, then vaporized and inhaled by vapers. E-juices come in a variety of flavors such as Melon Berry, Cinnamon Apple Crumble, and Caramel Macchiato, and vapers can choose the concentration of nicotine they prefer or go completely nicotine-free!

5) Atomizer and coil: This is the element containing the heating coil that heats the e-liquid or e-juice to turn it into vapor.

6) Tank: The e-liquid is stored in the container, which may be refillable.

7) Cartridge or cart: In disposable devices, the liquid is stored in a container (or tank) called a cartridge. Attached to an atomizer, cartridges usually come pre-filled. They consist of a metal or plastic mouthpiece and a container which contains the e-liquid.

8) Cartomizer or carto: When the atomizer and the cartridge or tank are combined in one component, it is known as a cartomizer.

9) Mouthpiece: Also known as the tip, the mouthpiece is the element where the vaper places their lips to draw vapor. With the vaper’s inhaling action, the mouthpiece funnels vapor from the atomizer to the vaper’s mouth. Some mouthpieces are inconspicuously built as part of the cartridge to give it the appearance of a traditional cigarette.

10) Draw: Similar to a puff or a toke, the action of inhaling vapor from the mouthpiece is called a draw.

11) Battery: The battery powers your electronic cigarette. Automatic batteries switch on when the vaper inhales while manual batteries switch on when the user presses the power button.

12) Starter kit: A kit that includes everything a new vaper needs to start vaping. Our Deluxe E-Cigarette Starter Kit comes with two Classic E-Cigarette Batteries, one USB Charger and AC Adapter – 808, and one Pack of Flavor Cartridges of your choice.
